I lost this girl one year ago today. We were together for ten years, a third of my life at the time, and it still felt like she was gone much too soon. Like no other dog, she was my partner, my co-worker, my training partner, partner-in-crime, and best friend. Feeling tired and drained tonight, and not just because I’m up late and time is about to jump forward an hour despite my most desperate wishes that it wouldn’t. A little over a week ago I had to say goodbye to one of my dearest friends, a 12 year old adopted dog that was my steadfast companion for 9 months and 22 days.
